Happy 65th Birthday, Mom!

Thanks to Charlie for coordinating a great party for mom.  It was so nice to see everyone and have the kids together.  Great location, great food, great time!  Hope you had fun, mom:)

"Hmm, what could it be girls?"

It sounds like...

It is!  I think mom really likes the charms she got from Deb and I.

Happy 65th Birthday, Mom.  Love you!

The Trailbreaker Half Marathon - Running in Support of Life Striders

Here are all 103 of us at the end of the race.  I dare you to find one person without an ear to ear grin on their face.

Here we come in to a water stop...
Still coming...

Bye-bye volunteers and spectators.  See you at the next stop;)
Me with Rik and Claire - the two co-workers who talked me into this whole thing.  Glad they did:)
Signing the official paperwork for The Guinness Book of World Records.
Thanks to Matt and the girls and Mike and Robin for coming out to support me:)  It was nice to have company at the end while we waited for all 103 of us to sign the official Guinness papers before we could untie from each other.

Spring Break

Here are some pictures from our "staycation" during spring break.

Morgan and Brooke each brought a friend shopping.  Yes, I took 5 girls to Bayshore - it was a beautiful day for walking an outdoor mall.  This was the girls eating lunch at Five Guys.

While we were eating lunch, the Army Band came in.  Morgan and Ellie couldn't stop staring.  When Ellie whipped out her camera to "secretly" take a photo, they asked if they wanted their picture taken with them.  They were so nice.  We talked to them for a long time - why they joined, what instrument they played, what it's like to do for a living.  It was really interesting!

Gee, do you think B and her friend Molly enjoyed the accessories store?!

Morgan was pretty proud of the outfit she bought at American Eagle.

Grammy took the girls to the Domes on Tuesday.  They had a great time and of course Morgan took a hundred pictures of all of the flowers.

Thank you, Grammy!

What we've been up to...

March and early April were busy with all sorts of random things, and it has been really nice to have the last week be so quiet. Here's a few photos of what was keeping us busy...

We prepped the guest room for Christine and family's visit, which included wrapping up the work on the dresser that Fritz began over Thanksgiving. This is Ashley's great aunt's beautiful tiger maple dresser that needed some restoration work done to it...
Over Thanksgiving, they took off the old base and constructed a beautiful new one (wish I could easily post a before photo). All we had to do was stain the bottom and reattach the top which they had planed to smooth out. Looks great!

Unfortunately I didn't get a SINGLE photo of Christine and family while they were here! I think I was preoccupied with some other news we had percolating  ; )
After the Schusters left, we had an engagement party for Bryce and Heather at our house, which turned out to be a good time. Here's part of the group at one of the tables for dinner. Hector, Bryce, Michelle and the rest of the group had a tradition of doing taco nights when they are all living in the bay area, so we re-created a taco night "norte" (as we called it : )
And as usual folks headed downstairs for pool for the night. I snuck upstairs to bed at 11:30 while the rest of the party continued till the wee hours...

Thankfully I felt great the next day on Easter - made some brunch, hid an Easter basket for Ashley, made an asparagus torte and ate dinner at our friends and neighbors Jonny and Rebkah's. A really nice Easter, although we don't have nearly the cute photos you all do from the holiday : )
Early the next week I headed to Southern CA for the week for work. Was obviously working during the day and in the evenings I was able to go for some long walks around Laguna Beach and some of the other towns. Beautiful plants everywhere.
The coolest yard I'd ever seen! This was the entrance to the house from the sidewalk ...
And you walked down stairs to this cute patio. On the left is a tree house that is at street level because of the hill. Hard to see from the photos, but SO NEAT. The houses were just gorgeous.
Crazy Laguna Beach tree
It was full on spring when I got back to pdx. I know I've posted bazillions of photos from my work window, but seriously, this rainbow was HUGE!
And it was a double - so pretty.

Now we have a few low key weeks before preparing for all our visitors in May! So excited to see everyone! : )

Easter Weekend at the Cabin

I love the symbols and colors of spring.  Morgan and I took way too many pictures.  I tried to narrow it down to some of my favorites...

Tessa brought me some beautiful tulips and pussy willows.  I put them next to my new bunny basket and painted eggs.

Made monkey bread to eat while we dyed eggs.  Made me think of Aunt Jean and the cottage:)

Some of Morgan's photography...

Easter egg hunt on Sunday morning.  Doesn't look very springy, but it sure was fun!

Macy in action slipping on the icy snow while reaching for the eggs in the tree.

We went to Powederhorn after church and breakfast; basically had the whole hill to ourselves.  The weather was funny.  It would snow, and then the sun would come out and then it would snow while the sun was out...Gorgeous day overall!

Roasting the pastel-colored marshmallows provided by the Alpen Inn.  They had a big bonfire and gave the kids a dollar for every blue marshmallow they found.

Beautiful view and a wonderful weekend.  I think we might have been the first ones on the hill this year and the last ones off.  See you next year Powderhorn Mountain.

St. Patricks Day

So I'm really behind in my posts, but before I post my Easter pics, I thought I'd share a couple from St. Patrick's Day and Macy's Little Lambs concert...

Macy was a caterpillar.  We went "all out" with green eyelashes and special green glitter shoe paint - OMG!  Picture with her friend Bridget Dwyer from 3K.

Loves those eyes (and the chocolate cupcake on her face)
Seven couples (and their kids - below) got together at John and Hope's house.
...and the 15 kiddos.  It was a crazy, overstimulating, but fun night:)
